From Les Cook and his mates - Sat 2nd June – Sat 9th June 2007
The four of us had fished many commercial lakes before but never a specialised lake such as Rookery Meadow and we were optimistic that all of us would come away with our personal best by the end of the week. The fishing was tough because the fish had spawned the week before and weren’t interested in what we were offering them. Never the less, the four of us stuck at it and fished the lake hard all week going through every single bait we had brought with us numerous times. The weather didn’t help either with it being one of the hottest weeks we have had this year. Although great for getting a sun tan it made the fish even more lethargic than they already were.
However, our efforts were not in vain. As the week progressed the fish gradually got bigger. Between us we caught over 20 fish ranging from 10lb to 24lb + and our expectations of achieving our personal bests were fulfilled. The fact we had to work hard for them made the taste of success even sweeter.
I’d just like to say on behalf of Andy, John and Gary….Rookery Meadow was a great place to fish. The set up is ideal and the location stunning. We are keen to come back next year to see if we can break those personal bests again. !!!!

We take our week away fishing each year very seriously but also like a laugh at the same time.

And to prove it, this is the four of us wearing the Rookery Meadow 2007 T-shirts and Andy winning 1st prize – nothing spectacular, just a trophy to keep until next year – plus the bragging rights of top fish for the week! From left to right, Andy, Gary, Les & John.
Thanks again Rookery Meadow for a great week !!! See you next year.
Kind regards
Les
From Kev Hewitt:
Done a 20 hour session on Rookery Meadow near Evesham. I Set up on the dam wall and dropped a Cotswold Bait Creation yellow squid and octopus fluro hookbait down the edge next to some reeds and loose fed a home-made groundbait. It rattled off within 30 mins and I landed my first fish from my first visit to the lake. Only a double but a cracking fish. I lost a fish in the evening on the same rod and had another at 1am. This one was a common of 17lb 10oz. We packed up in the morning and headed home. the lake itself was miles away from anywhere in a lovely tranquil setting. No noise of cars etc.. There were plenty of lovely features to fish to, lots of reeds, lily beds, a small island and some over hanging trees. It was a very enjoyable session and a lovely little water. The fish are stunners too. Big thanks to Phil for putting us on to that one!
